There are over 200 items in The Forest, and they can all be spawned with console commands! This guide will take you through the basics of spawning items with cheats in The Forest. If you already know how to spawn items and are just looking for item codes, click the button below:
Commands are typed into the developer console, which you can be opened by pressing F1 after having enabled it. If you haven't enabled the developer console, you can enable it by:
- Going to Options > Gameplay > Set Allow Cheats to ON.
- In the Main Menu (not the pause screen), type developermodeon - even though nothing will appear on the screen, this will enable the console.
- That's it! The console is enabled (press F1 to open it). For more help, see our console guide.
The command used to add an item to your inventory is called the AddItem command. It's very simple - all you need to do is write "AddItem" into your console and add the item code of an item after it to add that item to your inventory. An item code is just a number that represents an item. The item code for cloth is 33, and the item code for a leaf is 34, etc. You can find a list of all item codes here.
As an example, we'll spawn batteries. These have an item code of 36. The command to add these to your inventory would be:
Typing the above into your console and hitting ENTER would add batteries to your inventory.
To spawn an item on the ground (in front of your character), the SpawnItem command is used. This is exactly the same as the AddItem command, but you write "SpawnItem" into the console instead. For example, 307 is the item ID for Crossbow Bolts. To spawn this, you'd type into your console the following:
